Standard alarm and immobiliser

Hi

I was looking at a clio the other day with a viper alarm installed. I was wondering how this would interact with the original immobiliser and alarm.

Where are the originals in the car?

Are the original immobiliser and alarm in the same box?

Is the new alarm likely to stop the original immobiliser working - I'm assuming the new alarm doesn't have an immobiliser - I could be wrong about that.

Thanks

The original alarm/immobiliser would have been removed. If the installer had any sense the new alarm will run off of the central locking button on the OEM key but it may not. The key also acts as an immobiliser so a Sport with the standard alarm actually has two imobilisers.

Wrong . The immobiliser and alarm are separate on the Clio . It very much doubtful the immobiliser will have been removed .

If it's anything like my Toad alarm it will have been intergrated with the immobiliser and use the original Renault keyfob for both .

2 immobilisers ??? The immobiliser is in a ring around the ignition barrel .

Not wrong the alarm installed at the docks on import came with an alarm and immobiliser. BUT the cars already come with an imobiliser which works through the key and the imobiliser ring on the igniton.

So one imobiliser that works from disabling the alarm and one that works from a transponder in the key at startup. One will have been removed with the alam and one will still be in there with the key

It came with a factory fitted immobiliser . As you say the alarm was fitted at the import centre at the docks . It has one immobiliser , the alarm fitted is exactly what it says it is an " alarm " .
