Standard, Cup, ff etc etc terminology

Right. I dont normally post threads like this but...

i thought I had my head around what a standard, cup, cup packed and ff clio was;

You have the standard car with no cup suspension or spoiler/splitters but it has all the creature comforts and nice interior

Then a cup is a Pov spec clio with the cup packs (suspension and aero packs on a 182) and that's it

and a full fat car is the standard car with both of the cup packs added.

now the 197/200 lads have really thrown me off.

They're referring to the standard car (as I'd call it) as the ff.... Then on top of that they're adding 'cup pack'

so they have

the standard (full fat) mk3, which has the creature comforts but no cup chassis.

the cup, POV spec interior with the cup chassis/suspension

and the ff +cup pack I which is the standard car with the cup chassis/ suspension.

am I missing something here?

There is no set rule.

On this forum I'd say a ff mk3 is a regular mk3 + cup pack, a regular mk3 is the normal non cup, and then you have a mk3 cup.

its stupid

197 non cupped is just that, a 197.
197 with cup chassis = Cupped 197
197 Cup = 197 Cup ;)

done.

No ff that or that. FF was a fully loaded 182, so that was 182 with all the trimmings, ie cup chassis/spoiler etc.

gheys over there, full of yes men, who spank over open cone air filters, 64mm TB's and sprint boosters. All very questionable 'mods' imho!

To make things even more confusing i seen people call their cars; Full Fat with cup packs. Who are these people :(

My favourite was the "172 exclusive" I saw advertised yesterday. It was a ph2, silver, had a regular interior and 172 wheels on it. Right. And I have an F4R powered "v6 cup"...

not meaning to chip you down, but on the log books, most if not all 172's in a srt amount of years , say ' exclusive '
only the ph1's have a ' exclusive' spec level

offset the stupidity of it with a gif haha

LMFAO, hadn't even spotted that. Good tactic.

Yeah the ph1 exclusive model was what I was expecting to see in the ad. How bizarre/interesting r.e. PH2 log books, given that all PH2 172 are the same (with the exception of CC, ESP etc).
