standard head unit

does any1 no how to wire up subs to the standard head unit in the 172 or is it something to be done by a pro

Don't do it mate. I did it when I first got my car.

You need an amp with a high level input and then run wires either from the back of the headunit (speaker outputs) or do what I did and take a feed from the rear speakers.

The power just isn't enough to get any decent bass. I have now upgraded the headunit and it sounds much much better.
