standard replacement K&N filter, does it make a difference?

i have just ordered a standard replacement K&N filter for my 1.2 8v, just looking if anyone has done this and had any difference.

i was hoping for it to be smoother running and more mpg as standard filters usually choke the engine.

chnaged my normal panel filter for k&n one - made a slight noise increase

also runs nicer but then again my old filter was ckaed in tons of s**t

ye im hoping it will run smoother, when its cold and in 2nd it splutters sometimes ,i took the box and filter off and went for a drive and it was just a bad noise lol,
