Standard steering wheel options

Hello, I have a year 2000 (W) 172. The steering wheel is a bit tatty, so I'm looking to replace it.

Will a later model steering wheel fit (the one with the silver insert at the bottom of the wheel)?

Are there any other options, such as a snazzy alcantera version?

PS How do you remove the wheel without the airbag going pop?

No it doesnt I'm afraid.
To many connections on the newer one.

Mines fooked too, will have to a. order a new one or b. get it retrimmed.
