Starting Problem Mk2 Ph1

Hey folks...
My girlfriends mk2 ph1 1.2 8v is sometimes having trouble starting...
It will turn over but wont start...
The starter motor is fine
Sometimes though it will start straight away no problems and then sometimes it wont start what soever....
Anyone any ideas what the problem could be?
Ive heard immobiliser and battery in the key fob...

Does the red light in the centre off the dash go off when the ignition is turned on?

If not then the immobiliser is not disarming...

Happened to me about 7 weeks ago..
Took it to renault to plug into diag...they cleared 2 faults, cleaned my relays which were apparently corroded, and re-synched my key...

NO PROBS since...touch wood

your key could be the case if it is the immobilser as you say it does start no botha sometimes and then others has problems and if ur starter is fine, have a look at ur plugs n HT leads, summit simple i would say man.

When the car has started, does the dash mileague reset itself.

Do you find that the car will start straight after driving?

If so then I would say it is most likely your battery.
