last night we changed the engine of my mates car (mk2 ph2 old style 1.2 16v engine)
The engine is of the same type, code etc reason for swap was old engine was aproaching 145,000 miles so we sourced a 40,000 mile engine.
now the engine had started and we reversed off the drive and drove up the road and back (around 0.2-0.3 miles) and the engine cut out.
it then failed to start for the next hour when we give up and pushed it onto the drive for the night.
The engine managed to start once in the morning but then cut out again. seams as though the engine being warm is the problem.
Things that we have changed since

alternator.
any ideas to help us?
