Starting Problems.

  clio 172 phase2
Hi all,
Just come back to the forum after quite a while as I have purchased a 172 03 plate, the car was delivered from a guy in London as I could not get there to pick it up myself, when it arrived I had a good look around it and took it for a spin all seemed ok and I was quite happy, however when I went to start it the next morning it was a sod to start,it did eventually fire up and was ticking over ok but when I went to throttle it nothing happened ie revs stayed the same when pedal depressed so turned it off tried again did eventually start and reved up as per normal so took it out for a few miles and it ran spot on got home turned the car off.
Next day same thing hard to start not reving when throttled but eventually started and off I go again ran very well lots of power.
Next day tried for a few hours to start it but nothing at all this time, has any one out there had similar probs ime sure you have,i have had a good troll through similar starting probs on this site and from the look of thing it could be one of a few things,
Anyway thanks for having a read and hope some one can shed a bit of light on this very annoying matter,
Oh I I hope I have posted this in the correct section,
Cheers,
Gaz.

Hi,just an update on the starting probs, after breaking down in sainsburys car park and calling a tow truck to get the car home,(£50 for one miles travel)had a rain free following morning so thought I would have a look under the bonet done a few basic checks after researching ideas from the clio forum but no luck I then spotted a hanging wire with female connection just below the bonet switch plugged it in and happy days car started first time.
any ideas why this solved the problem, could it be anything to do with the alarm system,
Cheers.
Gaz.
