Stealth - KTec, Yozza or GDI

  1.8 Civic EX
What have you got? recomendations/opinions?

If you have vids that would be handy, preferably of a 172 with just the exhaust thats been changed, ie, still has the CAT.

cheers

Yozzasport appears to be nearest the orginal quietness from what i can see.

i wouldn't buy anything from GDi...But thats my opinion alone. I don't believe the quality is up to scratch

K-tec system ph2 doesn't sound the greatest again imo, but i'd say the quality is better than the above

The YS is nice and quiet (Shocker) And looks a quality system! This would be my choice.

I'd doubt you've ever seen one to be able to comment, but they are certainly better than manual bent JP systems made up from about 20 pipes

manual bent my arse

Out of interest I'm under the impression that a decat on a standard system would provide a better performance enhancement that an aftermarket cat back (with the cat ovi) is that correct?

errr. Well i saw yours/ Laura's 2 boys up here have one?! And it was nout to write home about.

Put it this way i've seen an exhaust GDi made for a customers car...needless to say the customer did not accept!!! It was worse than anything i've ever seen! I'm sure you know the one i mean!

Anyway back on topic. I've made my opinion.

Friend of mine has a JP exhaust on his trevor! WOWEEE!!!

  182 has now gone!
You not happy with your pro speed one Ryan???

not for me, for someone else, but i tell ya what, if my prospeed breaks again i certainly won't bother going back to get it fixed...

I heard that you had to go back down there... Can you not try and get some money back on the guarantee???
Mind you, its quite a way to travel so maybe its not worth the hastle..
People always have plus and minus points regardless of what exhaust you buy.. I love my magnex one, but others told me that they are not that good and to stay clear of them..

gdi all the way for me, ive had a k-tec exhaust and got shut for a gdi one with was 100x better

although my ktec one was a gen1

i wouldnt have a JP/yoz exhaust as the company that make them are based round the corner from me and make them for alot of my friends which have been back and forth more times that i care to mention as they are unhappy

but then gdi dont currrently have any exhausts to sell

but then the stelth system doesnt add any power to your car so if you want a standard sound and a standard look ... id get standard lol its cheaper too
and unless your keepinf your car forever it will be fine.

you never saw mine, if you did it was just a glance as you walked past and no one can tell the quality of a exhaust from that

tbf its a bit of pipe, you cant really go wrong

yeah he gave me petrol money to go back but to be fair it's not the money it's milage, which obviously they can't do much about...

fingers crossed it'll be ok now they bodged... erm... i mean fixed it...lol

less of the company bashing please! just own personal honest opinions and comments required

You've not seen mine or Laura's, so dont tell porkies. If you're claiming to have seen mine at FCS that year then your full of poop, it was parked up back against the wall and wasn't on ramps, so quite how you managed to see it I have no idea

If it's the one I'm thinking of that then again, you're telling porkies, as it never went on a customers car as it was rejected and has been sat in a box pending action ;) So again, total lies.

You'd be better off being honest and just saying you just have a problem with GDI :boring:

Has the OP looked at Pro Speed at all? They make lovely systems.

your right it was at a glance.

And tbh the k-tec i had wasn't the best in terms of build! But it sounded awesome! - that for me is worth it'sweight in gold.

Power gains from the best to the worst is likely to be about 3-5bhp if that... So in essence Fcuk all!

yeah, wouldn't put much faith in anything renault that's not made from stainless steel... anything else rusts and falls to bits and it started with the valver arches... it's not improved much since lol

yozza stealth £359 + £25 p&p will last

renault oe £317.41 inc vat will last 2years max

hum.........

My 03 plate is still on the original exhaust, well nothing in the mountain of paperwork suggests a new exhaust has been fitted and it certainly looks like the OE exhaust............so thats 5years and counting;)

i'd sugest you read the thread again ;)

i have a prospeed on mine...it's not too bad, love the sound but it hangs so it's "semi" stealth lol

my standard one was on it's way hense the prospeed, now my freind (whom im posting this on behalf of), his standard one has given up the ghost. he's seen mine and wants one of the three im asking about due to travelling all the way to cardiff not really being an option..

I would go to Prospeed or Hayward & Scott.

See i would advice against prospeed, until i seen yours...But i think thats a decent one tbh! Seen a few shoddy cut cats etc! I think Charlie offen bites ff more business than he can chew.

Lowed the H&S on Steve's!

It's all to do with the level of customer service too for me. Prospeed and H&S are really switched on. They understand business, and customer loyalty. If something hasn't been made 100% perfect then it's no bother for them to put things right. After all they developed these works of art, they're not likely to charge you to get it spot on how ever many attempts it takes. Think of the long term and returning customers.

My kind of people. :approve:

I got a Yozza stealth a couple of weeks ago after my renault backbox made a bid for freedom, and am very pleased with it. Andrew got it out to me next day, It looks well made, and was easy to fit ( I've never fitted an exhaust before ). It sounds different to standard but not louder, the note is deeper.

I'm really glad I opted the Y/S system.

I went for the ktec stealth recently due to YS exhausts being a lot more at the time, more than I had!

Im happy enough with the ktec, quite like the sound and seems strong enough to me. Having had close contact with Alans 182 YS system I was impressed by it and that would have sealed the deal if the price had been right :(

Cant comment on GDI but dont prospeed make them for GDI or is that just me talking pish?!

  172 cup
I rate my Prospeed but havent had any of the other suggested exhausts. Prospeed will give you lifetime gaurantee and will make whatever style/sound you like.

I love it how the usual num skulls jump on the band wagon of lets lick yozza's arse hole (no offence against you Freddy) im sure he enjoys it, but then slate GDi's work publically (sp) when they have had little or nothing todo with them an just have a general problem from the chinese whispers thats going round.
Jesus you lot time you all put the dummy back in instead of spitting it out at the first chance to have ago hero's.

By reputation what would you buy.

K-tec - janspeed, over 40yrs making exhaust and race bred systems...
YS - JP - Make exhausts for TVR, Ferrari, Lambo, Aston....Old boy had one on his old Dino iirc...And more latterly on the E-type, although i thinik that was just the Manifolds.

GDi - Piper?! Sold to the max power world?

I would rather put my hard earned into a quality product even if it's only buy reputation. No RS exhaust will give significant gains, my K-tec lost 0.6Bhp...Different day but didn't get a massive gain, but sounded great.

Listen to all three if you can then choose.

no offense taken, the num skulls doing the arse licking are justified :rasp:

I'm on my 2nd Janspeed decat and this one is breaking up from the inside, Laura's old system didn't sit or hang right. JP have a local reputation of being unreliable and poor quality, I've seen one fall to bits on a Seat Ibizia... does any of this mean much? Probably not, s**t happens, not everything will be 100% all of the time. Piper have probably made some shocking stuff in the past too, but I'm happy with mine, Laura was with hers, I've had enough systems to know when a system is well made or not and it provided me an immediate and obvious gain.

Oh, and blue flame also make exhausts for TVR... again, doesn't really mean much as they dont have the best of reputations either. I know a few people with their systems too, some were fine, others had nothing but problems.
