Steering 'clonk'

If I sat stationary with the steering wheel centered, and then turn it about 10 degrees either way, I get a sort of clonk, as though there's some slack. Can also feel something through the pedals, if I have brake or clutch down.

Is this normal, as I've not noticed it before (also seems to happen when moving, but not really as noticable then)?

Not really - don;t thinks it's engine mounts as engine seems pretty solid. I was wondering if something might've come astray on the steering column?

Hmm not so sure. I would suspect a few things i spose. Rack, column, wishbone bushes, i would agree not engine mounts

It could be the steering rack mounts, get under the car and try tightening the 4 bolts, see if it gets any better.

I had a problem like this and its recently come back, with mine it was the wheel bearing, did it when on full lock and then got worse until it was knocking all the time, and could feel it through the footwell. And its just started doing it again :(, not expensive though so not too bad.
