Steering controls SO ANNOYING

Okay I've been trying for ages to get my steering wheel controls to work
I really need an answer I've tried everything

I've got a connects2 lead that doesn't work that plugs to the yellow thing

And the red one that plugs into the display but seems to short out the headunit when connected by the patch lead

Spent like 85 quid and got nowhere!

How do you mean short out the headunit? I had problems with mine when the ign and power cables were the wrong way round, it kept forgetting the memory when the ignition was turned off until they were swapped.

Basically it either doesn't turn on when the patch leads in and if it does the headunit buttons don't work so if I take the patch lead out it's fine- I plug it back in whilst its on and it short circuits

Got the right lead? There were 2 types if I remember correctly for the MK2.
