Steering Fault?

Just encountered a serious steering problem on my Ph2 172..

Steering whilst moving forward is very clunky and causes the car to 'jump around'..

No jumping when the wheels are straight just when steering left and right?

Power steering, steering rack, driveshaft or cv joint?

its not the power steering...

i recon its the steering rack...happened on one of my cars....
im sure someone else will know for sure...

haha..very true...

did you hit something like a kerb or slide into something..? when mines snapped...the wheel seemed to snap round when turning...

steering rack is something stupid like 160quid from renault...what ever it is..its gonna be pricey..

check the top mount also wheel bolts are tight could be the wishbones bsuhes but the racks have been chnaged before due to problems like this

did you hit something like a kerb or slide into something..? when mines snapped...the wheel seemed to snap round when turning...

steering rack is something stupid like 160quid from renault...what ever it is..its gonna be pricey..

na mate never hit anything....

need to get a supplied n fitted quote :S

Sounds like the rack! My williams had a similar problem....(One of about 105249867348796538476 issues that car had)

On mine i had this issue, but after replacing the track rod ends the problem disappeared. Could also be a idea to check them.

GPSS just quoted me £245 + vat!!!

Also said there was 5 different racks for these!!

Any idea which 1 is on mine any1?

Maybe last year sir... if i had loads of money i wouldnt be posting on here about a steering rack i'd be away gettin it fixed

I had track end rods and track rods both replaced yday, handles like a dream now!!
Yet to notice any clunk!!
could be a wishbone, gator, spring. Cheaper options if u aint 100%

nothing now, plenty last night.. ie loud clunking and shakey wheels!
