Steering grind

I've had this for a few days now but seems to have got a hell of alot worse today.

When I turn the wheel with the engine running or not theres a load grinding on the wheel it's only when you turn the wheel slightly from it's central point.

I've checked the fluid just and it's empty (tank on the right) so I'm guessing it maybe that.

Ive just managed to buy some universal power steering fluid ford m2c 33g / dexron IId & R ...will this be ok to use? Also is it just a matter of tipping the stuff in or does it need flushing?

Can't get the car in until Tuesday due to the bank holiday weekend and I'm hoping this'll fix the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Topped the fluid up and still have the problem.

When the cars stationary and not running this is the noise it makes when I turn the wheel 1-2 inches left and right

When the engines running from cold there's no noise as soon as its been running for 5mins or so the creaking starts and is real loud ..and when I pull away the sound gets even worse as though the suspension affect it but as soon as I get upto speed I can't hear it at all.

As anyone any idea as to what it could be?

Thanks
