Steering , knocking noise when cold .

My 182's just 12 months old with 8k on the clock . The past couple of days when i first get in the car there is a knocking / banging noise when i turn the steering wheel to the left or right , it doesn't have to be on full lock either . After the cars warmed up the noise goes .

I don't think its the usual knocking suspension top mount problem but it does sound mechanical . Could it be anything to do with the power steering ?

mine does this on full lock to the right, like a sort of clunking noise...

i think its because its on coilovers though

I think from reading these forums m8, 99% of Clios seem to do it! Mine started the same noise around the 10k mark and Reno fixed it - though they wouldn't tell me what they had done? :S

I think it's started to come back now with 26k on the clock as I've noticed the odd clunk sound, usually on full lock to the left...

I know about the full lock problem . Mines started doing it just turning left or right , not even half a turn of the steering wheel . If i leave the engine running so it warms up for a few mins it goes away . But it's a loud knock / bang like somethings either catching or something might need lubricating .

I was wondering if it's coincidental its only just started happening with the cold weather .

Mine does it on a morning when its real cold, reversing out of drive, then its fine until cars been left overnight, very annoying, almost like a lack of lubrication or something, if I leave the car idling for a few mins to defrost windows it sometimes doesnt happen

Did they change the rubber top mounts when they fitter your suspension apparently you get a noise then if its not changed

mine does this... and i know why.

its the springs moving slightly in their holders on the shock. Mine have only done it since fitting the sportline springs. No real problem, just gets a wee bit annoying.

^^^ Its just the standard cup suspension , i'll keep my eye on it , see if it gets worse , just seems weird why its started happening now being 12 months old . Maybe the cold weathers got something to do with it :S ?

2004 182 32000 miles. mine is exactly the same pulling off the drive, been doing it for 2 weeks, left it with the dealer & they said they 'greased up the joints' it was fine for a few days but it's doing it again.
