Steering noise

My power steering on my valver is on the way out and makes the dirty noises. but i have noticed a funny sound from inside the car. if i turn the wheels it like i can hear air escaping. But it from inside the car. its not the pump and the steering wheels isnt rubbing. any ideas of what it could be?

Air trapped in the system ? Bleed the system by turning the ignition off and turning the steering wheel between full locks 4+ times !!

think you should do that with the cap off for best results

as soon as youve had it running and turned the steering lock to lock a few times it will be bled.you will always get the ssssshhhhhh noise espicially on full lock due to the noise of the oil going through the rack under high pressure.

Mines stopped since it had a new column on Friday.

Think i should sell it before anything else goes wrong!

Doubt its the column tbh. Maybe it does just need bleeding?

Bled mine at the weekend and added some slick 50 to it, its alot quiter now. I had to turn the wheels from lock to lock approx 20 times though to get all the air out of the system!

ou can visually check if the belt is slipping over the PAS pump pulley.

check the tension/condition of the belt.
