Steering rack oil leak - nearside

Can you change the seals in the nearside steering rack with the rack in the car.

Seeing "youtubes" of the job on the rack itself it seems it might be possible with the wheel off jacked up?

No, the pinion has to come out to be able to pull out the shaft which pulls out the end plug that has the seal pressed in, because its lightly pressed in the rack.
