Steering rack question

Hello,

I am currently building a rally car and i need a suitible steering rack. Could i ask some of you to go outside and tell me how many turns lock to lock the steering wheel will turn on your cars please? If you could post the result next to the make and model of your car that would be brilliant.

I already know the williams is 2.75 and the renault 19 16v is 3 turns lock to lock.

If you know the gear ratios or number of teeth on the rack this information would help more.

Quick google search as follows:

Clio 182 Cup
Number of turns lock to lock 2.8

  Lionel Richie
right pedal helps ;)

What Fred is sayin ( i think) is that the V6 rack has a turning radius that's really s**t , Very big turning circle , so i'm guessing no good for your rally needs ..

You should be looking at one from a Clio Ragnotti , i think in the Group N rally class they use the oem rack of this type of car. 99% sure it's the same rack as the 172 cup sold in England
Must be a good rack if used in the Group N..

Cheers for the reply, but turning circle is no indication of the speed of the rack as it is more to do with wheel clearence or rack length. But id still like an indication of the lock to lock of a v6 rack.

I believe the 172 rack is about 3 turns lock to lock, but until someone goes outside and tests it, i wont know for sure. Hence this thread.

^^ allright, but still it must mean something to you when knowing the Ragnotti/cup rack i retained for Group N purposes ? When this is the case, if it's good enough for Group N, it's good enough for you ?

Ragnotti is just a 172cup, which means it will have a 3 turn lock to lock rack, i already have one of those, i want something quicker.
