Steering rack rubber?

  Black PH2 172 FF
Hi,

I'm looking at getting a run-around car for the Mrs. It's a 96 RSi. It says it one of the steering rack rubbers is split...

Is this a cheap fix?

Thanks

yeh reasonably. You will probably need to strip down to the steering rack and possibly remove it.

Its no big scene unless dirt has got into the rack, in which case stay clear. Do you know how long it has had the rubber missing?

if its been missing for a while theres more chance that something had got in and damaged the rack. see how the steering rack feels when turning from lock to lock and check for any leeks. if its all good then it should be fine

Shoudl be fine, chances are if dirt has got in there they'll just be play int he steering, ususally just wears the track rofds, to swap the rubber is about a 5 min job, just undo track rod end and from hub and shoudl be able to, with a bit of persuasion get it over the track rod end
