Steering Wheel Advice

  Clio 172 Cup
I am looking at getting a Sabelt Renault Sport steering wheel for my 172 Cup. Any one know what the required boss kit is for the cup? And I presume will need the horn panel also for MOT requirements.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Mark

I have a Momo boss on mine, although others have used the omp ones with no problems.

You could always fit a phase 1 indicator stalk which has a button on the end for the horn.

Ye I fitted a phase 1 stalk to mine. Couldn't tell you what boss I have though.
I used resistors for the airbag but have since had it switched off properly using CLIP

I had the cruise control cables which I just disconnected. That was all though

When I have looked at the new steering wheel they have offered a panel with horn buttons to sit behind the wheel

Go for the stalk option. A lot have had issues with cables on steering wheel and horn buttons due to cables snagging when turning wheel.

The phase 1 stalk is plug and play.

I'm sure you could buy them new at one point from Ktec?
Dunno how much though.

Where are you getting the steering wheel from please as I wouldn't mind getting one myself?

Also will the car still pass its MOT with an aftermarket wheel on it?

Car will pass MOT fine as long as no lights are on dash for air bags etc.

And Horn needs to function

but also technically the tester can only test what is there, so if there is no airbag they can't fail it on it as its not there to test

hence interpretation of the rules can lead to different MOT testers providing different results

No thats wrong, it's not how the rules are worded.

(a) An airbag fitted as original equipment obviously missingMajor

Clearly if you present a car without an airbag which had one fitted then it's a fail.

You can try and argue it out with the tester, but there aren't many who'll believe a normal Clio somehow didn't ship with an airbag like the rest of them did.
