Steering wheel sticky

Hi,
Just got my new car - a 172. and the steering wheel is sticky and peeling and slightly worn and melted looking, im aware this is a common fault.

is it cheeper to get it retrimed or buy a new one?

try ebay, a new wheel at a dealer will cost near £400.00
