Stereo Questions

I have got a 6cd changer under the passenger seat, but have a jvc headunit so it isn't hooked up properly, neither do the steering wheel controls work with the stereo.

I wanna get it all hooked up, is it best to get a standard stereo off fleabay and have it all fitted?

Also, stupid question, is there no display on the standard stereo's or does it appear by the time and temperature guage?
