sticky accelerator pedal/cable (help needed)

as above really, more noticable while in trafic (slow speeds) the accelerator seems to stick on about 2500 revs and some times sticks then begins to creep up the revs even more??

any ideas what this could be?

to stop it from doing it all i have to do is lightly tap the pedal and its fine (pedal raises and revs go back to normall)

do you mean the pedals sticking or its doing it on its own?

if pedal sticking then chances are you need a new cable

if on its own chances are its idle control valve

not entirly sure sorry - when i press the pedal down slightly to move slowly it sometime doesnt come back up and ther for stays wer it is and revs(as i usualy taken it out of gear) ??

could also be throttle body, take cable off throttle body and work it by hand to see if its returns to position and turns freely
