Still got very fast indicators!!!

Car  182/ 172 Cup
My indicators on my cup are flashing very fast, both sides flash fast and all bulbs are correct wattage and all working!

My hazzarss flash at a normal speed.
Anyone know what bit makes the indicators flash and where to locate it?

I have previously asked on the forum but problem still persists :(

Cheers kris.

You say that all bulbs are the correct wattage, but are they LED type or the traditional element type?
If they are LED type you will have to change them back to the traditional type as the LED ones have a different internal resistance, hence when the hazzards are used they flash at the correct rate due to overall resistance been correct and the loading on the control unit by all four bulbs.

standard bulbs, not the led type. i have checked the earths, again they look fine. :( bored of this issue now

UCH I would of said mate, have had it before. It's the control box up under the glove box! Expensive tho sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Does it control the indicators? i have a spare car to get another one from.
how easy is it to change??

cheers kris

Afraid not mate, unless you change the UCH, injection computer and keys of the other Clio! You will need to buy a new UCH and program it to your car.
:(

Also just though il add, my cigarette lighter doesn't work. Didn't know if this could be related in anyway ???

The UCH is a "Multi-function" controller and on the plus side the relays are replaceable but i'm not sure if they're external 12v relays or if they're internal micro-relays for the turn signals. I'm sure you will be able to send it off somewhere like ECU Testing for a fix though rather than giving Mr Renault the best part of a grand!

might take it to renault for a check? see what they say? :(

I wouldn't for anything more technical than a dust-cap. They'll probably tell you they've never heard of a 182 before.

Specialists all the way.

Something sounds fooked with the electronics of your car matey .. too many silly problems. :dapprove:

The only problem is the indicators flashing fast! i fixed the cigarette lighter (was just a fuse)
renault are the only people who can program the uch aparently so it has to be them!!

:(

So they say! Get a second opinion - try asking Carlton Garage in Exmouth. Generally, I'd never ask a main dealer (although Fish Brothers Renault in Swindon so far have been pretty good).

i use to have a problem with my indicators- they were always on. i traced it to water in the alarm system. i cut the alarm wire that goes to the indicator wire (you can get to it just behind the hazard light dash switch) and it fixed the problem.
if you don't want to cut wires, you could get under the scuttle panel on the passenger side and pull the plug from the alarm, see if that fixes the problem.
but it's easier to cut the wires and just reattach/resolder if required. i think it was a grey/white wire, you can see it if you remove the small panel with the hazard light and pull the wires out a bit.

Yeah I tryed disconnecting the alarm wires behind the headunit and little panel, still the same :(
Cheers anyway
