STOP light and HANDBRAKE lights come on whilst driving

  silver cup packed FF 182
on behalf of another friend of mine who has a 172 his stop light and handbrake lights come on sometimes when accelerating or going round corners,is this a dodgy wire or does it need to be looked at?

Sounds like his brakes are worn or he's low on fluid. There's a float level sensor in the resevoir and that brings the light up.

yeh he had an advisory on his m.o.t to change his pads/discs so hopefully when he gets them changed the lights will go out.

If its not the pads.. then its deffinatly low brake fluid.. the resoviour is at the back left on the engine bay as your looking into it.. need to take the engine cover off to get to it.

Lesson there is always read the manual before phoning the AA. It's all there in black and white.

Faulty sesnor then by the sounds just get another one.

The new Clios oon't have breake wear indicatiors Renault decied that by having a fluid level sensor when the pads need chnaging the fluid will have droped so the light would go off. Doens't work since
1) Sensors arn't superb.
2) At service time most garage top up the fluid so you don't get a warning light when pads are worn.
