Storm Grey 200? - Ashton-under-Lyne, yesterday afternoon

On Patterdale Road. Not sure if it was Storm Grey or Nimbus  - but it looked bloody smart anyway. Nice thumbs-up from the driver when I let on too. :)

...that would be me!

Hi matey, I have only just signed up having found the forum this morning. I half guessed, having saw you yesterday, that you would be an enthusiast.

Nice 182 you have there. I did consider one myself before going for the Nimbus 200. Only had it a couple of weeks but liking it so far.

Thanks m8! Aye, the 'ol girl isn't looking too bad for 6 years and 83k on the clock.

Are you from A-U-L yourself? Or just passing through? Born and raised there myself, but I live up between Bury and Rochdale now. I was on the way over visiting the parents who still live there.

Nice to see a nimbus in the flesh. Looked really smart and the 200's are definitely growing on me. :)

Hi mate

No we don't live in Ashton but not too far from it, still local. My missus was born and raised in A-U-L and her parents still live there. We had just dropped our two year old son off there (with her Mum, his Grandma) while we went to football.

Yeah, the car is nice. We initially wanted a white or blue one but opted for the more "mature" and discreet colour. My other car is grey so they compliment each other well. It drives really well. It is not the fastest car I have ever owned but all previous cars (with the esception of my first two after passing my test) have been turbos... It sounds good and it is fun to drive when you want to chuck it about.

Must be a bit of a change going from forced induction to an NA engine? I love the 'older' type of turbo power delivery, rather than the smooth and almost linear torque curves of modern turbo cars. I had a Punto GT for over 6 years before the 182 and the power delivery was just like a switch. Nothing, nothing..... nothing - wallop - have that! It certainly made for interesting driving - having to plan ahead and praying that the engine didn't come on boost while driving over a grid or something. ;)

Is the 200 going to be a keeper? Or have you eyes on something else at the minute?

Yeah it's a different experience completely. I've had all sorts ranging from a Fabia VRS and Ibiza Cupra mk3 (heavily modified) to 2 Audi S3s (one modded, one standard) a Leon Cupra R remapped to 280bhp, uber-modified Focus RS, modified Imprexa WRX, 500bhp Audi RS6 etcetera etcetera.

My maddest one was a Westfield with a Cosworth Turbo engine. It was like a rocket, seriously felt like it would take off with the old school turbo kick you mention. I loved that car but sold it when we had our baby boy as I hardly drove it.

I currently think the Clio is a keeper but I do get bored easily. My other car is probably more of a keeper (the 911 Turbo) as I can't see myself ever getting rid of it. I will probably keep both for another couple of years and then replace the Clio for another car for the missus (she drives the Clio too) and get either another toy (must get an Atom at some pojnt) or another 911 to add to the one I have.

I didn't realise there were many, if any members around here. I'm just in Denton.

That 911 is fooking gorgeous. But you already knew that.

Yeah, I was an Audy boy (left in 2001)

I like the Clio 200, but I love my 911 - for the fiancee it's the opposite; she hates the Porsche.

I have wanted one for a while now and finally treated myself in 2009. Definitely a keeper.

Ah the stunning 996 turbo, such a shame about the front headlights because the rest of the car is actually prettier than the 997 variant.

Pics of the 200 yet mate?

Hi Darren. Was I in the Porsche? If so, yes. We popped in there to get some sandwiches before going to a bridal fair in Hyde,

Gally, I will stick some up in a minute.

Ok, pics should be visible. Starting with the wheels, I decided to wash both cars on Saturday afternoon; little did I know it was going to hammer it down.

I will have to take some better ones when the sun comes out and they are all waxed and shiny; I don't think the photos of the Clio do it justice as it's a great looking little car in the flesh.

Plans for the Clio? Might opt for the larger spoiler (unsure of the name of it, the one with the carbon fibre effect ends) and possibly a roof wrap but only possibly. I am not into the whole modding thing but we will have to see...
