Strange electrical issue?

  Clio 182
Had a very strange one tonight, got in and started car normally but immediately there was a warning beep that was repeating every second and every light on the dashboard was alight and the speedo and taco were cycling through speeds.
I turned the engine off and on again but it came back. Whilst I was googling potential solutions it stopped and returned to normal.
Has anyone else ever had this happen? Any ideas what could cause this?

Sounds like a glitch. How old is your battery? Low voltages can cause all sorts quirks.

Sounds like it entered Christmas Mode. The beeps should have made out 'We wish you a Merry Christmas' though. As @Matt Cup says maybe low voltage HTH

If you press and hold the mileage reset and turn the ignition on at the same time you’ll put the clocks into a test mode.

The mileage and trip computer go to all 8s, every warning light comes on and the speedo jumps up by 10/20mph to max then back down again in the same increments.

Strange if you hadn’t pressed it but if you’d recent reset the mileage it could have been stuck.

Give the process a try and if it’s the same as what you saw then that’s what’s happened. Good news is the clocks are supposed to do that so they haven’t gone totally mental. The bad news is they should only do it when you ask so you’d still need to work out why.
