Strange gearbox noise

So last couple of days I have noticed a strange noise from the gearbox on my ph2 172.

When I start the car on idle the is like a tick noise coming from underneath around the gearbox then at 2800rpm there is a rattle sounds plasticky.. If you know what I mean. If you hold it at that rpm you hear it if you rev quickly past it you don't hear it at all. It doesn't sound like a crunch and all the gears still go in nice and easy and the car still pulls fine through all the gears. It doesn't make the sound if you rev it when it's in neutral either.

However Now I've Noticed it I don't really want to take it over 3krpm now as I'm a tad worried. but I've got a 200 mile motor way journey in a couple of weeks.

Any suggestions what it could be?

Release bearing possibly

Does it go away when you put the clutch pedal down

Il give it a go late when I pop out, if it makes sense it doesn't sound like a major mechanical rattle just something small..

Just checked, the noise doesn't go away when you put the clutch in.
