strange noise and what seemed like engine stuttering..

i had just done a 150 mile trip back from brighton, the last 30 sounded like something wasnt right and that i was being paranoid, then it got worse and worse, sounded as if the wheel bearing needs doing or as if i have a screw in a tyre

checked it when i got home and bit dark to clearly see but i cant feel any screws and dont think its wheel bearing, and when slowing down without my foot on the brake it felt like the engine was shuttering and like it was going to cut out

i checked under the car and i can see something hanging down in the middle up by my engine but as i say its too dark to see, what you think that could be and is it anything to do with it you think??

any opinions would be great thank you!

update, went out and looked this morning,

the thing hanging down was just some sorta protection and pushed that back up

but the noise was the fact the wheel bolts were loose!! took the wheel off and found out the disc was loose too!

so tightened it all back up and it feels all fine now
