strange pipe!!??

hi folk

i removed the air box today as i was fitting a k and n induction kit
and found a strange clear pipe around 2inchs with a cap on top sticking out of the top of the gearbox is this novelty tube ment for topping up the gearbox
fluid?

also found some dryed up oil around this area of the gearbox is this normal?
is it where someone has fillled it up before?
does this get checked on a normal service?

Most clio gearbox's tend to leak a little bit of oil mate, its normal.

It's the gearbox breather as said.

Although the haynes manual doesent say so, it's the easiest way to fill the gearbox oil (as long as you leave the plug out of the normal filler so you can tell when it's full
