Strange Rubbing Problem

  180.5 bhp 172
Hey,

I have noticed that the real passenger side wheel of my Ph2 172 is rubbing on the inside of the arch (By the shock), and when the wheel is on, I can get a finger between the wheel or the shock, but on the drivers side, I can get my whole hand inbetween the wheel and shock!

Would anything of caused the wheel to move towards the car and rub? I had the wheel off earlier, but couldn't see anything wrong (But then again, im no mechanic). There was nothing loose or anything.
It'll only rub when going around corners.

Its got standard suspension on it, not coilovers.

Any help would be great, as I dont really want to take it to a garage....:(

Thanks
Nick

When I put 182 alloys on my 1.2 it rubbed in exactly the same place, but that was because of the different wheel offset.

The passenger side wheel arch and driver side wheel arch are slightly different, on my non sport anyway, and the passenger one sticks a bit further out so its naturally a bit closer to the wheel tyre, I think if I remember right its because of where the exhaust goes.

Are you running on standard ph2 alloys?

Yea stock wheels too.

I only noticed it when my girlfriends really "large" mate got in the other day, but now it rubs loads around corners and is rubbing the plastic arch liner and also what I assume to be part of the metal chassis.

All 4 wheels on my 172 used to rub, everything was standard.
