Strut Braces??

  1.6 16v
I have a full suspension kit on my clio and i was wondering if a front and back strut brace will be worth buying???

I doubt there are is any documented proof. Just wait for the replies on the front, some will like some wont. I havent got one, but I see the comments all the time.

I wouldnt like to be cutting holes in the body near the suspension struts anyway, especially with all the stress that this area receives.

Driving a 172, 182 and a 182 with brace back to back at the Ring, the braced did feel a bit more settled and tighter in corners.

according the tuners on here, a properly fitted front stru brace is a definate improvement. By properly fitted i meant bolted into place. If you only fit it with the provided self tappers then it makes no difference.

The only real way you will get any benefit by having a front strut brace fitted, is not by bolting it in it is by welding it in to place. Look at all the major race series and you will see that the strut braces are part of the chasis and therefore will work with the car as apposed to just looking good under the bonnet.

There are guys out there that are desingning a fixed strut brace for the clio which will have a link so as to be able to remove the centre part of the strut to work on the engine.

Try giving Fred at Yozzasport a bell, sure he will be able to give you a bit more info on what is best.

I am not saying bolting one down is a problem, but the only way you will get the full benefit of a strut brace is to weld it to the struts, as it will then become part of the structure around the front of the car.

Bolting it into place will work but you will still have stresses around where the bolts have been fitted.

aint they in turn attached to your car? i cant belive they sell rear braces and they do absolutely nothing what so ever!! surely they would aid a little bit maybe? lol

they sell open filter induction kits that are proven to loose power, they sell 'chips'on ebay that are only actaully resistor that f***s up the fueling, they sell ecotec valves that do f**k all, they sell power caps for installs that do f**k all, basically there is a lot of car orientated stuff out there that sells in bucket loads that actually does absolutely f**k all.

lol at open induction kits and acoustic valve comments, talk of the day.

Rear is useless, pushes the strut bolts apart?! lol why you wanna stiffen the back up, so you lose it more spectacularly than normal?

dont see the point on the back. front bolted on would make a difference I think take out some body roll and make the car feel a bit more stable

i just bought a front and rear omp brace from sturbracer.co.uk for 89.99 delivered to my door which i thought was a good deal really...really want to try this accoustic valve thingy for sure

Ha Ha if it is the same guy that sells on ebay you might see them in a month!!!

Thats how long i waited, he said that there was a back order at the factory "why advertise then!!"

My advise is defo buy a front and bolt it on, it made a great difference to mine, i have also got a rear one too it bolts onto the dampers but also cups the chassie, cant say if it does make a difference though, if it dont then it does a good job of holding my sub in place!!! :D

Agree..it seems the car modifying manufacturers can sell ice to the eskimos.....a lot of it is marketing flannel.

You only have to read a few treads on here where people are wasting money on stuff but are convinced it's going to make a difference to see it.
