Stupid Question regarding lowering

i know most of you will shout at me for being a complete Nah00b in this area, but iv never lowered a car before.

how would i go about doing it?
would i just need springs or like a whole kit?
and also how much to drop it about 40mm? i wouldnt want any more than this to be honest.

im not exactly in the money at the moment so a cheap way of doing this would be appreciated guys.

do it myself or a garage jobby?

But do you know what you're doing? It's not something you want to try if you don't know what you're doing. Springs are dangerous lol.
Just save the 50-60 odd quid and sit back and let your garage do it

There's a guide on there for fitting lowering springs.

I did mine the other week and found it fairly easy, you'll need a trolley jack and a pair of axel stands though

Springs and shocks are your cheapest option.
Labour costed me 60 quid.

can you use original shock absorbers? basically i am giving myself a budget of £100-£150 quid. ive found some 40mm springs for about £70 and it says i can use my original shock absorbers. is this a good plan or not?

yeah fine, but they will only last about 12months until the shocks die

If your after shocks and springs get the Apex 40mm kit from K-Tec.

Failing that just get Eibach Sportline springs.

You get what you pay for I'm afraid. I think mines lowered on K-tecs cheapest springs, and the ride is awful. Went out in pepsi's 182 on AST coilovers, lowered an insane amount, and the ride was soooo much smoother and firmer.

i would say get either apex or eibach springs. apex lower slightly more but aren't as good quality as eibach ones which dont lower as much.

not been to any yet. hoping to get to some soon. just got a bit of work to do on the motor.
lowering it 40mm this time next month i think, black badge for front and wheel caps, megane splitter, rear splitter and maybe one or two other little things
