Stuttering at standstill

My car is a Mk1 1.2 MPI and only recently within the last two weeks ive noticed that sometimes when i come to a standstill the revs stutter and then settle back into the idle. One time at night it was that bad my headlights were flickering and i thought it was going to stall. It doesn't do this evrytime i stop but it's getting more frequent.

I'm guessing some sort of sensor, could it be the Lambda or airflow?

Any help would be seriously appreciated as it's niggling at me.

Might be worth giving your idle control valve a clean.

if its the same as the earlier ones, it might be the idle step motor, they are about £50 to replace IIRC

Mine done it a few times..and I was using Tesco 99..Iv changed to shell and its fine.

On the throttle body. or near by get a hanes manul to help you.
