SUB + AMP ADVICE>>>

bin messing with my engine now its time to mess with my ICE

got a pioneer p6500 head unit. now i want sub/amp.

ive got about £500 to spend on a sub and amp.

went into my local ICE specialist in leicester who recommended JL audio stuff.

a 12" sub in a box was £230, an then £200 for the JL amp to power it, £40 fot the wiring kit, then they sed they would fit it all for £70.

anyone got any other suggestions as to what £500 can buy you, i listen to alot of hip hop in my car.

cheers tom

wih the rest of my system im not having 6x9s

going to disconnect the back factory fit speakers

and replace the front speakers with sum nice new 1s with tweaters( to be decided at a later date) for the moment i want sub/amp.

thanks tom

£500 seems very steap for that m8! For a start you can save yourself £70 by fitting it yourself. I know it may seem daunting cos Ive been there too!

http://www.cel-direct.comwww.cel-direct.com do a JL 12" package (sub, box, amp and wiring kit for £299.99)

If you like hip hop, a 12" sub is the way to go.

Definitly. Ive got a VIBE CBRA10 - a 10" sub with a built in amp and its very very impressive. The 12" is usually about £250 with a decent wiring kit for about £30 would leave with enough cash for a decent set of components and an amp for the front.

i nearly always go for ex-demo stuff from my local, ask the shop they may have some, saves money all the time, and i always fit it myself, or with a mate, and built the box ourselves for my 12!

I have a vibe cbr10 (the one with the built in amp) and it is properly loud! Ive got a mate with the 12" version and its louder than the alpine r type stuff!

yeh i went into ICS in leics and thy had the 12" vibe unit for £270.

the guys who showed me the JL audio stuff didnt like the all in one units like the vibe.

so for the money the £500 for the JL and £270 for the vibe, i should go for which 1?

im gona get sum decent components for the front and a seperate amp to run them.

IMO the vibe all in one units are perfectly good, and you dont have to worry about screwing down amps, cos there is velcro on the bottom of the unit which sticks to the carpet pretty hard! Because of this its dead easy to take them out if you need the boot space.

Do you know what the spec is for the JL stuff (model names ect)? Cos if you do, go on to http://www.cel-direct.comwww.cel-direct.com and see what they charge. The package I saw was only £299.99 as Ive already said.

My 10" vibe gives loads of clear bass. The seperate JL stuff will probably sound slightly better, and you are only gonna have to spend another £30 + what ever the P&P is gonna be, if you get it from cel-direct.

ive had vibe, had jl too, tbh i use jl stuff now, just planning the new install for the clio, vibe is good, foud it a lil sloppy sometimes, and slow to react in cases, never had the problem with jl, also, jl (slash) draws far less power, so it always sounds good
