Sub & fitting to factory head unit HELP!!

  Clio Extreme 2 1.2L
Hello all, I've just had the fitter bloke from halfords out to fit a sub with amp (not lazy, just haven't got the tools :p), and he said that because I have the factory default head unit on my 03clio extreme 2, it didn't have a certain port. I think he said I need an RCA out adapter, but I wasn't sure as it was broken English. We both went to halfords but they didn't have what he needed, so he said get it online, then book it again with him. What is it I need?? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

You want an rca adapter it converts the white and red plug from amp to speaker cables so can be wited into the standard wiring but there not brilliant at all much better to get a stereo with rca plugs on the rear

I personally would get a HU with an RCA out on it, as chances are, it's gonna sound gash, sorry to say. If you do go ahead with it, I'd keep the sub on low, and find a way (if it's possible on a renualt OEM headunit, I can't remember sorry), to go into advanced settings and try to cut the lower freqs going to the speakers.

Can't comment on a sub, but I had a set of component speakers amped off the standard headunit using the above, and sounded perfectly adequate, compared to my old aftermarket headunit.

Im running 3000w of sub and 6x9's off my original head unit with vibe comps in front and clarion co axial in rear and sounds ace, on a par to quality through a sony stereo which i had in my mg zr originally. Standard head unit is the one, looks the best by far!!

You need a high input on your amp to wire into stereo. I presume that's different to RCA. I got a mate who does all mine. He said that wiring in a RCA is terrible

Wiring in a speaker to RCA converter is fine. I never noticed any loss, plus your only playing the low frequencies anyway and they can't really distort.

ive never had any problems with wiring an rca from speakers , i found the worst quality when using the high level input straight from the speakers
