Subways V6 - seriously considering it

Ok then guys, i know the poor lad gets some s**t on here and people think he is dreaming on his price he wants for the V6 as stated in his last thread, but i really want it. He mentioned around £14k

As you know, its a black gold 05 Plate with 30k miles on the clock
Full renault service history and 1 years warranty remaining.

The car is a Cat D which was repaired by renault.

The blue V6 which was forsale a few weeks ago was also Cat D but was on 04 plate priced at £11,500. Obviously this had no warranty and was slightly older, but the mileage was less.

I know subway paid next to nothing for his, but this is irrelavent.

So anyways,

What price should i be paying for this car in it current condition?

Has anyone ever seen it in real life and can give me a true opinion on the quality of repairs and the condition of the vehicle?

Any help and opinions would be really appreciated.

Thanks Guys

will youre VX be for sale?

Yeh see the forsale thread.

do you want it?

Some guy has offered me £10k cash and im considering it dependent on my chat with Subway. If anyone wants to offer me more than £10k give me a shout asap

just looked. sorry but i wouldnt be able to match the offer you've already had. Looks like a great example too!

but anyway, you must be mad to be contemplating buying the V6 for £14k

I think subway got a bit of a bargin when he bought this car at 8k, if indeed he did only pay 8k for it in the first place, and that this is in the back of everyones mind when valuing his car. If how ever you where just looking at it as a catD Mk2 V6 with 30k on the clock, I think most people would be happy to part with ten grand, as long as the car had been repaired correctly.

Just my opinion, Steve.

Yeh mate, Kieran is the guy who is thinking of buying it. He is coming saturday to view, but his budget is very tight. will just have to see what happens.

iirc catD can be removed.

it can but still comes up as 'condition inspected' on the HPI, so only slightly better for resale.
Suppose technically it does mean you can miss that it was previously written off in the advert.

Yeah I think that sums up my opinion. What he paid for it has no relation to the market value.

However advice on a forum can only go so far... you need to see the car in the flesh and its a personal decision.

If subway doesnt want to sell the car for 10k then this thread is pointless.

iirc catD can be removed.

neither cat C or D can be "removed"

but you can have an official inspection that will be logged with the car's history.

on on HPI it would appear... Cat C/D Total Loss (write off) - Condition Inspected.

awesome!
please sell it to him because i've been promised a go in it!!

good luck with the sale and the decision of the V6, although personally a Cat D one wouldn't be my choice...

If i were going to part with that sort of money for a cat d write off at least take some one with you who is in the trade and try and get it in the air (i.e ramp) I've met some right arse holes in this game who are far to keen to move on a shed to a naive buyer.

How can any of you's dictate what is the "Fair" Sale value of the car!

It's not your fcukin car!!!

Adam got an absolute steal when he bought the car and i believe it was more than 8k purchase price!

I would have bought it too for that money, because even with Cat D status it's still worth in the order of 12-13k. Hell, a mk1 CatD is worth what you proposing (8k)

The car was inspected by mark and given the clean bill of health.

This is typical of Cliosport! - Get over it.

Funny 5 minutes Ali? Calm down son. ;)

I think the debate here has stemmed more from the whole issue of Adam trying to sell it in the 1st place undeclared.

At the end of the day, even Cat D's are worth a fair bit of cash if they're a decent car. For example, a Cat D Koenigsegg would still sell for a tasty wedge.

BUT, it is the general pulbic that dictate the 'fair' sale value of said car - supply and demand. If nobody wants to pay what Adam wants for it, then he lowers the price, hence dictating the fair sale value.

The old saying "it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it" fits perfectly here...

Ali, you criticise other members for making sweeping judgements and then in virtually the next sentence do the same...... lol

however, subways character is irrelevent to the value of the car, its worth what its worth, based on the condition of the car, the fact thats its listed and the quality of the repair. I suspect if it wasnt listed most people would be none the wiser.

I agree this place is crazy, especially when it comes to listed cars, full of uneducated people, but surely you see the irony!!!

When I sell on my Focus, do I need to get approval on the wording of the advert and price from everyone on here beforehand?

If I advertise it at an optomistic price in an effort to get maximum value, does that make me a c**t too?

I really don't see what the problem is here.

You research a car. You view a car. You agree a price. You pay and drive away.

At what point in that process is Subway being, or has been, out of order?

i say fair play tbh,
he got a bargin, bit bad not saying it was a cat D on the advert BUT not everyone on here is an angel
its worth 14k easy in my book
cat D is reletavely minor these days

personally ive made money on every car ive sold

Isn't the bone of contention the fact that in the past he advertised the car without mentioning it was a cat D in the advert? This IMO is a bit underhand. Usually when a car like this is for sale the seller is up front that it has been written off in the past.

A lot of the fuss being made now is people still trying to get him back for that as far as I can tell.

Mark, if you're Focus has been written off and you are selling it and fail to mention such details, then yeah, imo it makes you a total c**t.

There's two Mk2 V6's on piston heads for under £15k now... they aren't listed as being written off either, so selling one for £14k and not declaring it's a ringer is asking for a kicking off the newly duped owner. Then again, anyone that doesn't HPI a car like that is asking for trouble.
