Subwoofer keeps jumping around in the boot!

  Clio 1.2 16v
Hi Guys,

Just need some quick advice.Fitted a subwoofer recently but it seems to be jumping around in the back of my boot when I accelerate/decelarate.

Are there any solutions/recommendations about this issue?

Thanks

So you trust a 30kg lump of wood and metal to be held down to a carpet that is held in place by not much at all to not come flying through the back of the seats towards your head in a crash?

iirc a box of tissues weighs as much as a housebrick in a 30mph crash so I hate to think how much a sub box would weigh...

Get yourself a false floor in MDF then screw it securely to that!!

I use a ratchet strap, tie it to the rear seat bar.

crashed twice now, nowt to be proud of but once wasnt my fault and i must say i have never been hit by any of my sub boxes, the big sheets of steel on the seat backs generally gets in the way :D

Knowsit!

Two big strips of this under the full width of the sub box and it'll hold well. Been in my car for 2 1/2 yrs and it's still strong as anything. It can even be a bit of a struggle getting the sub out sometimes! Do the same with the amp too.

This is what happened when it wasn't secured down. Only fitted the day before and hadn't had a chance to get some velcro yet. Buying it before would have helped, athough in mk2s the bar in the boot prob would stop this.

BTW, Velcro obviously wouldn't have worked on the mk1 carpet unless the carpet was velcroed down as well.
