I wouldn't have it, especially not for that price. Think what else you could buy!

I get emails about opportunities for this sort of cash all the time, usually from a nice young Nigerian prince.

I got a couple of Nigerians on the go.

I reckon in a couple of months i'll be able to afford that beastie.

Looks a bit rough to me...

It is called Patina. It is a 3 owner urestored, hugely original, full history AC Cobra 289, with quite a few very rare period accesories.

It doesn't get better than this. There is not many Ferraris i'd have over this.

I love it. Mk2s are my favourites, but I'm not keen on the aftermarket arches. It's sitting a little high too.

It is how a 60s sportscar should be though. Thoughtfully maintained.

  Turbos.
It's got a lovely patina and is in a colour that really matches the age. I don't know enough about them to know that it was modified externally though.

A lot of money for what is a modified car, i LOL'd at Spax suspension. I appreciate some Cobras go for millions, but normally they have racing prominence with a well known owner/driver history.

Exactly what part looks rough! :S

Roof near the front screen looks rough.
Seats look totally fecked and dirty.
Tyres look all wrong also...

Nearly 1/2 a million dollars and i'd be wanting a mint concours version...

It sits flush against the 'hood', so the air comes in through the sides and feeds the carbs.

IMO you are totally missing the point. But each to their own i guess. ;)

So does it give better performance than a normal look one?

Imagine a K&N cone filter, Increase the diameter massively, then squash it down a bit.

I'm pretty sure it's where the cone filters we have today originated from. Performance doesent come into it too much. It's not a cold part of the engine bay, but it is a simple design.

  Turbos.
Not many people would if they were suddenly given the money, they'd probably spend it on a bright orange Murcielago or something. The difference is the Cobra will always be worth the same amount, if not more. Cars like that have a timeless quality about them.

But its F40 money.

Yeah, which are great, but they have no true racing pedigree and are relatively common (over 1000 made). You can get countless cars, i'd rather have a Miura than either, but doesn't mean the Cobra isn't worth that.

Die a happy man indeed,You need a 427 and then it would be in a ball of flames about 3 seconds after driving it away. They are not the original 'widow maker" for no reason. That is also the reason they make silly money as a large pencentage of them met there end going backwards into something a some speed.lol

I imagine you could make a kit one look very very very similar to that with an epic muscle car engine for a lot lot less.

I think mk3s are a bit pompous tbh. The mk2 is more elegant but more raw, which is why it was labelled as the killer Cobra and not it's younger brother, the mk3.

I know what your saying dalla, but my money would go this way for so much money...

That is defenietly not a bad choice. Very nice.
But i love the fact that the cobra is unrestored and authentic. The Patina looks very cool i my view.

And Engelbert, i would be very hard pressed choosing between this and a Miura. Thankfully that will be a decision that i most likely never will have to make. ;)

I would be perfectly happy with this Hawk 289. But there is allways something about the real deal.
