whatpaint?

Paint is Very high temperature engine enamel paint (halfrauds own). You can paint this straight to metal, as long as its clean, and it can withstand temps upto 650 degrees C. Really surprised to see the paint as its quite thin, i expected it to be little treacle. lol

edit: Oh, its matt black btw! :)

Looks cool. I been thinking about doing this since seeing maz's engine at FCS,

Seriously mate its a piece of piss, did that in 30mins. The only tricky bit is going around the letters.

  Monaco Blue Mk2
Looking good. Whip the fuel rail guard off and get that done too. Is it hand painted then as opposed to sprayed? I think racing blue engine cover will look good

Yeah fuel rail guard is also planned, needs a few more coats else where to look decent up close. Its just brushed on, as the paints really thin it doesn't leave marks, but you have to make sure you don't go over the wet bits.

Is it the same paint you used maz?

Looks similar colour and mine was heat resistant but I didn't buy it from Halfords ;) it was taken off fully and sprayed ..

why dont you paint the letters as well if its difficult then sand it off afterwards - should be alot easier and the renault sport will need a slight sand with some 800/1200 paper to get shiny anyway

tbh the letters aren't that bad, did them with a little bit of metal polish before FCS, but yeah i'll grab sand paper to finish them off nicely ;)

lol, does looks like grey primer :S

But honestly its black, just needs several coats as the paints quite thin.

I think he thought you had painted the engine cover. :p

It looks nice actually, pick out the lettering and it will look better (wire wool might work best, then polish). Makes a change from chrome, and a lot less work involved. Original. :)

I'm doing my calipers in silver very soon. Perhaps just the front ones tho. The rears look pretty pathetic I think they're better off hidden.

Second coats now on...finish isn't brill 'cos its hand painted and looks better from a step back than up close, but hey its a change! lol
