I know its been asked a million and one times but there are so many different threads on here with one person saying one thing and one saying another. My sunroof is being taken out this week as i need to stop it leaking, what do I reseal it with? So far I have found -

1. An oem seal
2. Silicone
3. Mastic

Whats best?

its upto you mate, a new OE seal will only last aslong as it has from new to now.

with mine, i didnt bother. i just plastered it in bathroom mould resistant silicone sealant, and then refitted the sunroof frame . apears to have done the job nicely.

The only thing that worries me about silicon (as I read in another thread on here) is that it isn't really that flexible when it dries and will leak again eventually. Hense the question really.

It wound me up so much I steel plated it and smoothed it out just before my respray.. Happy to report I have no more leaks or creaks :p

If it was me I'd get a new oem seal, but as said it won't last but what's the likelihood of you still having the car?
