Sunroooofa!

  Gay Clio 172 phs1

Mornin

Well after recently getting my clio valver back on the road i decided to sort the sunroof leak out. The roof lining has been removed and i have full access to the sunroof. There is about 9 bolts holding a metal surround which needs to be removed. But what next....

Is there any Gurus out there that can aid in my quest for a dryness cas am sick of looking like ive peeeeed ma pants everytime it rains lol

Dude, know howu feel, i dont wear jeans anymore - they take ages to dry and u look like a t**ser when u get out of ure car - i carry a towel around with me!! I tries putting silicon sealant all around the lining where the glass hits the seal but that didnt work - another option is to check where the airial joins the roof aswel coz that can be the prob but the amount of water that comes out it, becomes hard to believe that so much can get in so little a space! I need answers too......

If a sunroof leaks, you can seal it from outside.

Its usually the plastic surround lifting away from the roof.. and it gets in there - silicone should sort it!

If it aint that, it could be the aerial..

Is that the new one fitted??

If so was it hard to fit, Ive got one that im gonna attempt to fit when the weather clears up, Was all the roof lining hard to remove where do ya start?

Its deff not the Ariel fellas... And its not the rubber seal between the glass and frame. Its kinda leaking threw the seal which sourrounds the sunroof. I dont want to put fake titty material on ma roof. ill go and have a play later on today and let peeps know how i get on... Piks at the ready Oh bugger my cameras flat Doh!!

Wet pants Ahoy!!!!

The roof lining is a f**king nightmare to get off believe me, having just done it.

Theres massive lines of black stuff holding it on. When you try to pull the lining off, the roof comes in with it. Sh*t my pants incase i dented the roof bigtime. Basically i had to cut mine to shreds to get it off. Took about a couple of hours to get off completely.

If you can get away with not doing it then dont! You can actually replace the sunroof by just pulling the front of the lining off and bending it backwards. It goes right back into place.

Silicone it up then !! This is what ive done !! Siliconed the sunroof to my car !! No more leaks now !!

In plain english then guys - if ure sunroof is leaking (as many are on our much beloved valvas) wot do u do to fix it? Im talking home fix - not new sunroof!!!!!

I put duck tape around the top of mine (not on the out plastic bit but the inner bit lookin in from the roof of the car), cured most of it and took like 10 minutes, however the aerial always has something to do with it so am going to silicone that up just in case.

Since i did the duck tape trick I have had no more leaks.

Having once tried at removing the lining to cure a rattle I would not pull the lining off !! you have to take off all the plastic bits securing it then basically rip it from the roof!..could get ugly

water almost always comes in from the gutter at the front of the sunroof.

It sits there and ingresses.

give the frame water drains at the front a blow out if its got any.some of the frames had drains to remove the water from the channels.
