super glue

Car  172 with k-tec sound
hi guys, was having bit of a headache fittin my number plates, so as a last resort i glued them on with super glue, but it ran down from under the plate n dripped onto the rear bumper, (yes i know im a numpty), anyhow any ideas on how to get rid of it without damaging paintwork . cheers

You super glued your numberplate's to your car?

Are you special ?

ps. Acetone - nail varnish remover dissolves super glue but I would be VERY cautious about putting it anywhere near your paint.

On a side note if it has hardened the chances of getting it off without damaging your paint are slim as it will have bonded with your clear coat.

not to the actual car but sticky pads, nail varnish sounds risky tbh, this car is mint i dont want to take any chances

Choices are limited mate, either you get lucky and the nail varnish remover works or your unlucky it marrs your paint.

Either way it's probably going to need some spray work to get it 100% again.

you could try wet n dry and mask off the surrounding area, and take it away gradualy, then on the final stages use a real fine 1500+ grit wet n dry and then get it pollished with a machine

f**k me, seriously? You thought it would be a good idea to superglue your plates on?

I re-did mine with sticky pads the other day as after 35k a couple of the sticky strips had detached. 2 minute job. Done.

If you're struggling try a de-bonder. I have no idea how friendly that would be to your paintwork but by the sounds of it, its a bit late to worry about that now:dead:

Unlucky la.

Dont go less than 1500 for starters  youl go through the clear in no time with 800 or so, be safe use 2000 and use a block too :approve: Best option would be to flat it off or just get some thinners

He superglued the STICKY PADS. Not the plate. Either way. Numpty decision...
Should of done it properly.
