just the same as its still paint, some even follow up with EGP

Fine to use as it's paint all the same... Makes your wheels shiney and easier to clean after!

I'm not 100% sure they'll go really white but as srp dries to a white powder I'd be pretty sure it would leave white bits :-(
You could try avoiding the scuff marks?
