May be, but youll not get 300 bhp from just having a charger, more around the 230 (fly wheel).
Youll get better responce from a charger than a turbo, but you can go mad with a turbo if you can afford engine rebuilds past 1.8 bar. Theres a guy is Harlow (yep Mr Fish) who is just about to release a charger of a MK2 172. The price is cheaper against fitting a turbo. Im waiting for the prototypes to complete before I hand over a deposit, but it would mean losing the air con (wow! not going to miss something thats not to good anyway!).

For those interested - I hear Mark Fish has got or working on a prototype super charger for the 172/182 engine and a confirmed order. It should be good - no turbo lag!
