Suspension on 172

Im looking for a clever chap to tell me how hard it would be change suspension, anti roll bars..you know everything chassis wise from the 172 on to my run of the mill 1.2? Can it be done..if so..what do i need component wise? I was thinking i could start with the 172 springs and dampers so my car will be lowered but will still be comfortable? Is this a good idea or not worth the trouble?

Ive got some 172 springs you can have if you want them Rob - cheap! Not sure whether theyre compatible with a 1.2 though, but someones bound to know.

the 172 suspension is more than its dampers ans prings, it will have completely diff geometry. and changing all the entire front end is one thing, but you would need to replace the rear axle, then change the brakes over as i dont know if the 1.2 calipers fit the 172 hubs, then there will be a whole lot goin on.....itll probably be easier to stick a 1.2 in a 172.......LOL

Damn. How about if i just replaced the springs and dampers, any problems with that? Any ideas how much lower my car would be?

20mm, the back will fit for def (springs and dampers) but on the front you may encounter problems, i dont know if the base of the damper platforms on a 172 are larger (i would guess so, they could even be smaller) but remember that the front suspension on a 172 is designed to suport the weight of a 2.0L block not a 1.2 so it wouldnt improve handling, the spring rate on the front will be all worng

Ah rite. Ok well thanks for helping out. Im actually more bothered about improvement in ride, handling would just be a bonus.

Think ill give up on that idea, whats the best aftermarket 1.2 suspension then?
