2001 MK 2 Clio 172
So I wanted to ask you die hard and more experienced clio owners. I have a 172 only on 62k I need new suspension the boy who I bought the car from was a bit of a racer so I'm in the process of Defo-chaving it, it's on lowering springs atm and OE shocks but handles like a wet lettuce and my mechanic says it's all down to the springs not being designed for OE shocks. Not sure if this is correct or not? Either way the shocks have no return bounce when you push down on the rear of the car and about 2inches from the top of the front springs snapped when I recently had the from brakes done!
I do use it as a daily so I don't want it too harsh, but I do drive it hard, so my choices are and money is a consideration else I would go and but the most expensive coilovers I could so this is what I've narrowed it down to:
Brand new OE shocks and and a really decent set of springs designed for OE shocks
Vmaxx coilovers for the roughly the same money as above.
Koni adjustable shocks and possibly eibach springs (most expensive option)
I'm not planning on putting it on the track.
And advice opinions would be appreciated or if any ones got anything second hand feel free to post below,
Thanks!
