Suspension upgrades

  Titanium 182
I should be picking up my 172 next week and one of the first things I was planning on doing it was the suspension, I'm after something generally for fast road use so what do you guys suggest? Is it worthwhile changing the shocks and the bushes?

Slight lowering would be nice to.

It's for road use, so coilovers aren't necessary.

Eibach pros seem to be the general consensus with people I've spoken to!

Sorry I didn't mean that I'm going to be cutting back on quality, far from it - I will pay to improve the handling qualities of the car - coilovers will not do this, though.

Unless the cars properly corner weighted coilovers are useless, even more so on public roads where surface is uneven. Coilovers can't keep up with the bump rebound, whereas a well setup spring and shock combination will.

Id go for eibach prolines or sportlines on a road car personaly.

Ive had a phase 2 172 on prolines and now have a phase 1 on H&R's

Loving my setup at the moment, standard shocks, Eibach sportlines, Whiteline swaybar and front camber set to - 1.5 deg, with a little bit of toe in. Needless to say, a decent set of tyres should be top of the list:
Tyres - £400
4 x New replacement shocks £200
Springs - £120
Camber bolts and setup - £150

Only just finished it a couple of weeks ago after finally deciding to give up on the idea of coilovers. Can't wait for this years first trackday.
I know the swaybar / camber bolts idea on standard springs arent very popular here on cliosport, but its the must do mod on ozrenaultsport, I decided to be an australian sheep instead.

There no realy worthwhile upgrades of stock springs and dampers though you have to pay a lot to get a better setup.

as for corner setup etc yes it does pay to get the most out off but even diy is better than most if not all spring and shock upgrades in term of both ride and quality

Hi PPTom,

How is your suspension setup going? I am interested in this setup for my standard 182 cup. Suspension is now 100000km's and feeling tired, although the rear tends to feel loose, the rear shocks don't appear to be leaking, also alot of body roll. Anyone else use this whiteline adjustable anti roll bar?

Cheers
