Take my brothers ST?

As of next may my older brothers going to Ibiza to work for 5-6 months so he wont be needing is Fiesta ST, i have alwayss quite liked fast Fords due to relaibility and good reputible tuning companies available for them.

His is slightly modified (Full Miltek System with a Viper induction Kit and Cosworth Camshafts) I would be guessing if i knew what it was making BHP wise but its not 150bhp i know that much.

Now if you had the choice between the Fiesta and a Clio 172 Phase 1 what would you do? Bearing in mind itll be cheaper to insure and tax (ish)

The Clio will be 8 years old in March and have 56,000 miles on it going by what i do just now. The fiesta will have 22k on it and be worth 6k ish, its performance blue and immaculate condition (i treat it myself)

I know alot of you think that the Fiesta ST is slow, shite, rubbish etc etc whatever so im not intrested in people slating them as ive heard it all before, just tell me what you would do in my position as the clio isnt going to last forever...

regards

Sounds to me like you've got it in your head what you want to do already!

Why do you say you know its not making 150bhp?

Fiesta STs are very good cars imo. Very good drive and a fun good looking car.

I would be tempted to go for the ST purely cause it's a newer car. Will your bro want the car back after the 6 months?

ST is newer and will be a decent change.Ok it wont be as quick but it will be good all the same

Im suprised by how many of you would actualy take the swap.

Usually everytime the Fiesta ST gets mentioned it gets treated like the anti-christ

Is this a permanent swap or just use of the car for 5-6 months? :S

Personally after owning 2 Escorts I'd never go back to Fords.

Keep the Clio!

Id be selling the 172 so permanent.

Its okay saying that but things have changed since Ford were making the Escorts

If it were a newer, lower miles Clio I may go for the Clio, but I do really like the ST's.

Thats whats slightly swigning me as the Clio isnt getting any younger

A few on here have seen it and agree it is in top condition for the year but i just feel it may be time to move on, who knows lol

Hmm its a tough one, personally i'd have the clio, in all reviews etc the renaultsport has always come up better than the ST whether it be 182 or 197. Although the PH1 even though it is a realy nice car is a little dated especially inside, so if you fancy a more modern car then go for the ST.

I wouldnt be worried about the 172 though its only 8 years old you see cars older than x-y reg every 2 seconds on the roads.

Get the ST :)

BTW, the tax is slightly more expensive in an ST than a 172/182, but t'is only £30 per year difference.

Also, MPG is about 28-30 with some enthusiastic driving - it's about the same as a 182. It will do 40MPG easily if you take it easy on the motorway.

Costs me £34 to 'fill' at the mo, and I get about 290 miles.

just because the ford is newer does not make it better.

My girlfriend has an 02reg ford ka and its already getting advisorys for corrosion on its MOT`s and it had a big rot hole on the A pillar that had to be sorted.

Bet your clio hasnt ever had that?

That doesn't surprise me, Fords are rust buckets.
