Tamron lenses

Any used or using any?

Was looking at the 70-300vc as its getting better reviews than the Nikon 70-300vr.

Also interested in the 17-50vc, and if my mental state goes in to overdrive the 24-70vc f2.8 just looks superb. It's a big heavy lens but I'm so tempted to blow my entire budget on one!

I've had both the 17-50 and the 70-300 usd.

17-50 was great although since reaced with the Carl zeiss 16-80 which is noticeably sharper from 24mm onwards.
70-300 no complaints at all, stand it next to the nikkor and you could b forgiven for thinking they are the same lens with different badges! I think they are;)

24-70 is very highly reviewed but better focal length for full frame.

Yeah thought that about the 24-70 but would get a wide angle too. Optics are meant to be top notch but think its a bit overkill for me.

Was originally going to go Nikon 16-85 as the longer reach would be great for a walk about lens, but th constant f2.8 is tempting me. Although a prime lens is also on the cards for low light and portraits.

I have the Tamron 10-24 WA lens.

It's good, but I wish I'd just bought the Canon version now.

It's a little soft at the edges and in the corners when wide open. I assumed that it was because of my aperture, but it's not - it's just not an amazing lens.

Here's some examples of the weak edges and corners:

Before I realised it was bad and adjusted the F-stop:

Then with an adjusted F stop based on the above - still not perfect:

Mentioned it here http://www.tomcash.co.uk/barcelona-2012/ and here http://www.tomcash.co.uk/warwick-castle/

Hope that helps a little.

Found the 17-50mm too short and was offered a Nikon 70-300 at a great price so going to use the nikon lenses!
