Tapping Thead for CTS

  TrackCar & F30 330d
The OMEX Coolant Temp Sensor has an M12 x 1.5 thread

So what size hole do i drill so i can tap the thread, M10 or M12.

Thanks

if drilling by hand, go a little smaller to account for drill wobble and drilling into aluminium. 10mm drill will work, just go slowly to start it off

  a burnt one
Although you will find the correct size is m12x1.75mm pitch as m12x1.5 is probably rarer than rocking horse shi**, if it even exists at all.

The exact size for an M12 ISO metric thread is 10.2, but 10.5 will do for what you need it for.

The Omex sensor is more than likely an Marelli WTS05 (spec sheet here: http://motorsport.magnetimarelli.com/PDF/Sensors/SF_WTS05_rev5.0.pdf) or something very similar, it's M12 X 1.5 as previously stated and a 10mm drill bit, as Danny said, in a hand drill will be fine into the French quality cast ally you're working with ;)

Cheers
